If there are rotten beams, crumbled plaster, broken windows, cracked walls, brittle varnish, loose stones, uncovered roofs, warped frames, flaked stucco, wormy panelling, creaking boards and tilting walls, then there might be a construction to sustain, hold, renovate, underpin, refurbish, redecorate, fix, buttress, uphold, stabilize and support.

Underpinning /// Scaffolding is an installation, developed during a stay in Tbilisi (Georgia). The wooden construction is based on a sustaining construction for a house. It is rotated from former 270° of the original construction to 90° into the corner of the exhibition space. The construction becomes a sustaining for the exhibition room. A photograph of a scaffolding complements the installation and opens an associative space between preservation and renovation of architecture.
